The behind-the-scenes telecom booster

Article - April 3, 2014
Anglobal provides key engineering support serves the nation's major telecom operators
VICTOR TEIXEIRA DE LIMA, CEO OF ANGLOBAL
As well as working with Movicel, Cable MSTelecom and Angola Cables, it also partners with multinationals such as Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Emerson and Huawei.

At the celebration of Anglobal’s 10-year anniversary last September, CEO Victor Teixeira de Lima commemorated the company’s successful growth and impact.

Anglobal began its operations as a small company that was dedicated to assembling telecommunication towers, and the supply and maintenance of generators in the centre and south of the country,” he said.

“Today we are present in all the provinces and in all the municipalities of Angola, offering a varied range of telecommunications products and energy. From the few dozen employees we had 10 years ago, today we have about 600 professionals distributed throughout the country, of which about 96% are Angolan.

“In this short period of existence, Anglobal has developed an entire physical and technological infrastructure and management structure that serve to support our daily activities.”

Anglobal was founded by Telcabo Portugal to fill a gap in the market, yet the first year was marked by many difficulties and the challenges of a country in reconstruction.

As Manuel Feiteira, Head of the Area of Implementation at Anglobal, puts it: “Much effort was expended at the start of this company, when Angola was in a phase of accelerated development but with many constraints – in particular, access routes, which hindered movement of resources and infrastructure.”

He adds: “In Luanda, we had only three cars that responded to all requests for work. In the provinces, the support and maintenance of generators was done to some extent by local authorities.”

The company, like the country, has certainly come a long way since then, and it can even be said that Anglobal – which is now wholly owned by Angolan capital – has played an important role in Angola’s rapid development.

With a mission to design, delivery and manage technological solutions for both the domestic and regional telecoms and energy sectors, Anglobal adds value to its clients’ business and has earned a reputation for innovation and proactivity.

“Anglobal is a credible partner. They are always available to help resolve problems,” explains Manuel Silva, Director of Maintenance and Implementation at Unitel.

“Another characteristic of theirs is their ability to always innovate. I never feel I need to suggest new products because on their own initiative Anglobal appears to propose new solutions and identify points of improvement. It is obvious they seek excellence and are never satisfied with the status quo.”

Aside from its telecom-related services of civil construction, infrastructure and systems maintenance and operations, Anglobal is also an energy producer that offers a 24-hour uninterrupted supply through hybrid solutions that include solar panels combined with conventional energy.
